Understanding Psychometric Profiling
We all have a natural behavioural style that shapes how we show up in the world. In every workplace interaction, that style either helps us connect or creates unintended challenges. Across roles and industries, one thing is consistent: people respond to our behaviour long before they assess our technical ability. It’s often the unrecognised behavioural blind spots, not a lack of skill, that hold individuals and teams back.
DISC ADVANCED® psychometric profiling helps bring those patterns into focus.
The DISC concept
The DISC concept and framework was born the 1920s by psychologist William Moulton Marsten, with multiple versions being produced since then. It is a tool valued worldwide by over 40 million people, with translations in over 100 different languages.
The DISC framework identifies and analyses a person’s behavioural style. It does not claim to measure personality, nor does it reveal an individual’s unique thoughts, feelings, values and morals. Its primary purposes are to enhance self-knowledge, improve communication, resolve conflict, and build better teams.
DISC ADVANCED profiling is not about putting people in a box and keeping them there. It is about understanding the different styles so that we can work together more effectively. It does not classify people as good or bad, and none of the behavioural styles are better or worse than another. With the right training, we can become aware of the strengths and weaknesses of our own behavioural style, and learn to adjust our behaviours to speak other people’s behavioural language - increasing our own opportunities for success in the process.
The benefits of DISC ADVANCED
Some versions of DISC identify the respondent’s “natural style”, and some identify their “adjusted style”. DISC ADVANCED identifies both the natural and adjusted styles of a person, providing deeper insight into behaviours and how they may be affected by the work environment.
The basic DISC framework identifies 4 different behavioural styles. DISC ADVANCED recognises 44 combinations of the 4 main styles, ensuring extremely accurate assessment reports and behavioural identification for each individual.
DISC ADVANCED goes deeper than other standard DISC versions by measuring:
Natural vs. Adjusted style (revealing stress responses and coping patterns)
Emotional intelligence indicators
Workplace motivators and de‑motivators
Behavioural blind spots
Team interaction risks
This makes it a powerful diagnostic tool for identifying where psychosocial hazards are likely to emerge, and why.
The DISC ADVANCED system is able to detect invalid assessment results, meaning that it cannot be cheated. As well as this, accredited consultants are trained to identify where results may be unreliable, and we understand how to investigate and interpret results that present in this manner.
DISC ADVANCED is specifically designed for the workplace, and is true to the recognised international model - using the same patterns, acronyms and colour coding, promoting universal conversation and understanding.
Our DISC ADVANCED reports include practical conversation starters and coaching tips, allowing individuals, teams and managers to implement the knowledge that comes with behavioural awareness. Each assessment report also includes an action plan, providing a clear path forward.
